America’s Psychic Challenge: This was a successful reality television show. The show featured 16 psychics battling it out with each other to win the title of America’s Number 1 Psychic. Psychics were tested and awarded points for each task. The two psychics with the highest score by the end of each show went through to the next round. The winner of the first season was Michelle Whitedove.
Crossing Over with John Edward: This television show featured real-life medium John Edward providing readings in front of a live studio audience. Audience members received information communicated by their deceased loved ones.
Ghost Whisperer: A fictional television series, Ghost Whisperer featured Jennifer Love Hewitt playing Melinda Gordon a medium with the ability to contact the dead. Melinda helps ghosts that are trapped between two worlds to let go of the unresolved issues that affected them in their lifetimes, freeing them to cross in peace to the afterlife.
Long Island Medium: This show features real-life, New York medium and housewife Theresa Caputo. Theresa is filmed going about her daily life and randomly meeting people. As she meets people, she connects with the spirits of their deceased friends and relatives. Theresa helps people to reconnect with loved ones that have passed over, and find the closure that will help them come to terms with their bereavement.
Medium: This fictional TV show featured Patricia Arquette playing Allison DuBois, a medium working for the Phoenix District Attorney. She uses her psychic gifts to help solve crimes, receiving information simply by touching people and through her dreams.
Psychic Detectives: Shown on Court TV, Psychic Detectives features real-life cases where police investigation departments turn to psychics to help them solve crimes that are proving impossible to crack.
The Dead Zone: This fictional suspense/science fiction TV series is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. It featured Anthony Michael Hall as Johnny Smith, a man who discovers he has psychic powers after waking up from a 6-year coma. Smith uses his newfound powers to help solve crimes.
The Pet Psychic: This television series, for Animal Planet, featured animal communicator and pet psychic Sonia Fitzpatrick communicating with a variety of animals and also connecting with audience members’ deceased pets.
